Carolina Penafiel is a local artist and curator who found a passion for embroidery after giving birth to her son Santino. She was looking for a way to have a creative voice while caring for her newborn. Her jackets are message boards for the wearer and they are meant to empower and teach children about the world around them. Each jacket is up-cycled by combining recycled fabrics, found objects, mixed media and thread. Each piece is a one of a kind creation that is unique to the world, just like the child who wears it.
